Pretty much what I have observed first hand in Japan.
Have occasionally seen marriages with lots of love in them here but seen nothing that contradicts Samurai8's summary.

Ok i realy don't like this topic but i need to say thats same hare in Serbia men also prefer that their wife stay at home once married and do house work.
be with children and make food for family so i think thats normal...
mother is first that mother than 2nd she is women if if there is time.
