This may seem like a pretty ignorant question, but to simply put it, are there any things you should ask specifically of the hotel when staying in Japan, for example, are there certain belongings you must personally supply. other than the obvious (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Hair Brush, etc.) what are certain things you should bring from home to make your stay more comfortable? I assume most Japanese hotels are similar to western hotels and supply the same with the exceptions of some options such as the option of using the Futon provided or not, but that is honestly the only difference I am aware of, and it would be extremely helpful if someone who has had previous experiences could help by informing of other things that are not so similar to western hotels.

This would include the rules, and appliances not found in Japan which would be found in the US.
