there's always Cruel Intentions and Wild Things. Catholic or prep school girls in America are equally fantasized about and reenacted in movies and such. American Beauty? The Babysitters? It's more common in Japan IMHO because they have less of a taboo against sexuality overall than Christian-heavy countries, although I also have a problem when children (including Kuriyama from Kill Bill when she was 13) have pornographic photos taken of them and published in those thick manga weeklies.

since this is specifically targetting school uniforms, i think one of the main components is that AFAIK almost all schools in Japan require school uniforms, whereas many in the US or other countries kids are mostly allowed to wear whatever they please. however, all things considering, "western" countries aren't giving a much better perspective with young teens wearing bikinis at beaches. we can always make excuses that it's not seen as sexual, but then what's the utility purpose of bikinis?

The whole gender roles thing in japan is offputting in my opinion, even though i have great respect for the country in a lot of ways. I do have a problem with this school girl thing, and the belittlement of women in the media and society. I'm a 21 year old Australian woman and I'm going to be working in Japan next year (or intend to), and this is probably my biggest concern.

Yes.. all that stuff can get under my skin sometimes, catchkatch.
Most of the guys behave like 14 year old boys around women.. (never did like 14 year old boys!)

One good thing about them, though.
If they say or do anything you don't like, just give them an evil eye and most of them scurry away
If you get one who is a bit more persistent, just tell him to "fuck off" and he will curl into a ball and disappear
Much easier to get rid of than your Aussie lads, I am guessing.
