Questions about moving to Japan. 16 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0  
I will be moving to Tokyo at the end of the year for school (TUJ.) I was curios of a few things:

1. What should I bring with me? What is essential for living there? How minimal should I Be?

2. What should I learn before arriving there? I have already learned Katakana and Hiragana.

3. Are there any hotels that are good to stay at for a few days that aren't very expensive?

Any and all advice is much appreciated. I am very excited and nervous about moving there!! I cannot wait!!

1. Passport, plane ticket, lots of money

2. Practice speaking with native Japanese speakers if you can.

LOL yeah, I know it will be very expensive there. School alone is going to be costly lol.

Sadly I dont know any Japanese people in my area right now so its hard to have conversations etc... ..

Bring an optimistic attitude and do your best to keep it. If you have an iPod you should bring it. Also, you can load free podcast Japanese lessons onto an iPod.


2. What should I learn before arriving there? I have already learned Katakana and Hiragana.
You're off to a great start! Now continue with basic Kanji just as elementary school kids do. You will be surprised at how quickly you will learn once you're immersed.

3. Are there any hotels that are good to stay at for a few days that aren't very expensive?
Long ago I found that backpackers were a reasonably priced alternative to hotels etc.

Any and all advice is much appreciated. I am very excited and nervous about moving there!! I cannot wait!!
