Studying in Japan 16 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, I'm new here, even though I've been watching videos on youtube since quite some time ago. I am a first-year university student from Malta, Europe. I've fell totally in love with Japan since about 2 years ago. I tried checking if I could apply on a Japanese Exchange Programme in my university, but the schools they have are basically Arts and Law Schools, whilst I am a Science and Engineering Student. There's an exchange programme which really suited me, called Vulcanus, but only allow third-year university students. I was very disappointed to hear this and am currently very desperate, as I was really looking forward to studying in Japan. I was wondering if there are any universities in Japan, that foreigners can apply to, or maybe some well-known Science Universities.

I have been watching a lot of J-dramas and listening to J-pop a lot recently, so much that I am probably capable of conversing a little in Japanese xD. I am also really interested in learning Japanese, but unfortunately I don't know about any courses in Nihongo here...

I don't know if you got any recommendations for me. All I know is, all I got on my mind right now is, JAPAN!

Hello and welcome

There are lots of schools in Japan where you can come and study Japanese.. if you already have been seriously studying it in your country.

Never heard of a science university where they do the courses 100% in English.

You might want to think about coming for a month or so during your vacation time to get a bit of a feel for it first.. just to make sure you want to spend longer here.
Life is different to what it is in the TV dramas.

Yeah, I am planning to come for a vacation for a month, not sure when, possibly the coming summer, if not, the next

I know it's different from what you see on tv, but I believe it's difficult living everywhere, even in your own country. If you love something and really want it, then I think you'll somehow manage.

Sure, that is true

Also, if you are prepared to be observant, super-flexible and to go with the flow, you can love Japan too

I am VERY observant and quite flexible

I was wondering, do foreigners sometimes go to Japan to study/learn Japanese?

I was thinking of getting TOEFL sometime next year, as I thought it would increase my chances in finding a job in Japan.

Yes, some people come here on student visas to study Japanese.
TOEFL would help get a job if you want to teach English
