Since I'm visiting Japan next year, I was thinking of bringing some omiyage to give people that I might meet. I live in Southern California. Can you give me some suggestions of what types of gifts the Japanese people might like?

Hey there. I have no idea what you have in California.. but food is a fairly safe present. Will have to be some sort of processed food.. they wont let raw food or fruit in..
