Movies being set in / about Japan 11 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 2
Hey there,

when I was studying at the University, we had a weekly evening movie session with one of our professors invited, to see and discuss movies guided by their professional point of view. The movies were chosen to be related to their research field and it was always interesting to get an idea of what is realistic, what is not, and whats the story behind the things shown in hat movie.

I thought it would be interesting to hear the opinion of someone living in Japan about Movies touching aspects of the Japanese Culture. Some of those movies are made from an foreigners point of view, so it would even be more fun to listen to a reality check or just the thoughts of our beloved dude that come to his mind when he talks about his impressions.

I know that probably all of those aspects were already covered in existing videos, so it would be kind of a mashup. On the other hand: Many people watch movies, so I think it would be of interest for quite some others. I know that it is time consuming to watch movies, but maybe he already has watched such movies or read those books that fall into that category.

Thanks for your good work!

I bet he doesn't.

He made an excellent critique of "The Cove" when it came out and made some predictions about the outcome of it which were proved 100% correct..
but was subjected to abuse and death threats from psycho Americans for daring to have an opinion (that we had asked him for).

I have also heard him say before that his channel is about Japan and not about foreigners talking about Japan.. so movies made by foreigners about Japan are unlikely to draw his attention.

I could be wrong.. but I doubt it.

Thanks petina,

I think it may be a bit different because the topic of "the Cove" is really a tough subject where people get emotional quickly.

I saw his review and must admit that I found it interesting partly because it is a controversial topic.. The outside view differs always from the inside view I've not seen the cove though. Of course its clearly not worth doing when you're getting death threats.

But its also a bit sad. It seems to me that were facing a general problem of our society, it gets more and more difficult to say something, when its not mainstream. People without own opinions tend to be the loudest and most aggressive ones. But that is off-topic..
