Disposing of clothing while on holiday 16 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Ok i'm off to Tokyo at the start of November. This is my third trip so expect some bizarre questions over the next few days as I finalise things.

Ok I tend to shop at a really cheap store called Primark in the UK. I buy 14 new shirts, 14 pairs of boxers and 14 pairs of socks. I then bin these while i'm over in Japan, allowing me to stuff more important (read anaime merchendise) into my suitcase for the return trip.

However, on my second trip, I had a few items of clothing mysteriously leap out of the bin and hang themselves up which leads me to believe either the maid thought I put them in the bin accidentally, or she was maybe trying to tell me to stop putting them in the bin.

So Question. If I want to dispose of clothing, is there anything special I should be doing, or is regular bin ok?

Am I causing problems for the hotel doing this and they are just not telling me of the inconvienience?

Thanks,

Yak

I think you were right and the maid was just assuming you made a mistake.
Put the old clothes in a bag and throw them in the combustible bin outside a convenience store.. that will be the end of it!
You wear old clothes in Japan?
Very unique of you

i'm sure you meant "odd of me"

So not really paying attention to the bins outside convienience stores before, how can I tell which one is for combustables?

It often has "combustibles" written on it

If it doesn't it will have an illustration of paper or similar burning..

I notice we can't talk you out of Tokyo America.. oh well.. enjoy it!
