Hokkaido is an island in the far north of Japan that enjoys snow and skiing all year around.
People come from all over the world to ski in Hokkaido.
In winter it is extremely cold and the ice festival is celibrated by people carving whole buildings out of solid ice, including hotels that people can stay the night in!
