How do Japanese people regard blind people? 16 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
As someone who doesn't see very well, do I have to know something about the Japanese view of blindness before I go to visit?

Thanks.

I see sight aids everywhere.
Lots of braille on stuff and those yellow bubbled tracks on footpaths and train stations and so on.
Pedestrian crossings all have the audible beep beep things too..
so I think you will be OK !

Well, I can't believe that it is like that ALL over Japan, even in the countryside.
Where do you live there?

Plus, it's nice that there are all those technological stuff, but how would the people treat a blind person?

If I need some help in directions or help picking something out of a menu I can't read.

Thanks,
Mishel.

My meaning is that the society in general is considerate to disabled people.

You will not have trouble getting help (assuming your Japanese is OK!)

Samurai8, you might want to rethink that long signature you have.. as being a bit dominating of the space on the threads..
