ECC, Age, Gaijin community 14 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and looking for some info from those who have taken the road I am about to take. I am a 29 year old who has just been hired by ECC. I have accepted the offer and I'm looking forward to my adventure in Japan.

I was wondering if anyone here has worked for ECC that may be able to offer some helpful tips or general info. Also, I know it's mostly younger people who go to Japan to teach English and was wondering if there are many others who are older like me who do it as well. I'm just so bored in Canada and need a change of environment.

Also, how big is the Gaijin community in the Tokyo area? Is it easy to find other foreigners to hang out with?

Thanks all!

Hello

Working for ECC in Tokyo you will be surrounded by other foreigners..
if ECC are providing accommodation, you will probably live surrounded by foreigners too...

I have found that the older people coming to Japan to teach are often the best.. because they have more life experience than someone who has just finished school and rocked up here.

It is bound to be an interesting year for you!

Thanks for the reply I'm sure it will be an interesting experience. More of an adventure then the 9-5 cubicle job that makes you want to pull your hair out from boredom lol. I'm pretty pumped!
