It is likely that you would be teaching English only.. never heard of a gaijin teaching anything other than language..

As for the students.. most a pretty respectful.. and some are total assholes

Japanese boys believe they are all kings and can be little pricks

Re:Teaching English 14 Years ago Karma: 0
Hi there. I am Australian of Italian heritage that is a native speaker in both English and Italian. I do not have a degree but have been in upper management of businesses here for a long time. I also worked in the Australian Government as a business manager and policy worker, so my written and spoken english is of an extremely high level.
I guess my question is whether there would be any chance of me getting a teaching job in Japan? My girlfriend is Japanese and is moving here in two weeks, and we do plan on getting married, but my dream has always been to live in Japan. Would I be able to get a spouse visa later on and then move and look for a teaching position???
Any advice or help would be appreciated.

If you are married and have a spouse visa you should be able to get a job teaching English.

Until then.. not likely that you could get anything but a 3 month tourist visa with no work.

I thought as much. I guess that a Degree does have some use, even though I have found when managing employees that a Degree is not always a good judge of intelligence or ability....you can't beat experience and natural talent I think.
I can get a 3 month visa easily...have been to Japan many times and love it.
Thanks for your help anyway.
