I have a daughter who was just born here in Japan (not on a military base), and the only way that she is even vaguely eligible for Japanese citizenship is if my husband and I die before registering her as a South African citizen.

I need to ask about permanent resident. how do you get it.
I as many other have a dream to come to Japan i live in Serbia,Belgrade so am far far far from Japan.
If you come to Japan and meat a nice women and marry her can you be permanent resident?
Please tell me more about this...

You need to live in Japan for 10 years on another visa to get permanent residency.

If you get married, a spouse visa is for 3 years, if you are still married after 3 years you can renew it for another 3 years.. and so on.
